An empty workshop room with round tables in morning light

Workshop: [Workshop title]

How to use this template

Fill in the agenda's times before you choose activities, in clock times, not durations. Keep participants doing for at least half the session, give each input one idea, and make every segment produce something people can see. Leave about a tenth of the time unassigned, just before the close: it absorbs the overruns.

Copy the activity section, from its heading down to the divider under it, for each activity, and write the instructions word for word, as you'll say them and as they'll appear on the slide. Print the agenda for anyone helping you run it.

0:00–0:10 Welcome: Purpose, outcomes and timings; one question every participant answers, so everyone has spoken once.
0:10–0:25 Input 1: One idea, one example, one handout.
0:25–0:50 Activity 1: Participants apply the idea to their own material, alone, then in pairs. Output: a first draft.
0:50–1:00 Debrief: Two or three people share; you name the pattern on the flip chart.
1:00–1:10 Break: Reset the room for Activity 2.
1:10–1:20 Input 2: The next idea, built on what came up in the debrief.
1:20–1:45 Activity 2: The skill again on a harder task, in groups of three or four. Output: a revised draft.
1:45–1:50 Buffer: Unassigned; absorbs overruns or extends Activity 2.
1:50–2:00 Close: Each person writes one next step, says it in a sentence, and fills in the feedback form.
